Water For People has a strong and successful Workplace Giving Program that enables companies to increase their level of support by augmenting their annual corporate gift with donations from employees. The impact will be significant – for your staff and customers, as well as the people whose lives you are improving through lasting access to water, sanitation and hygiene.
Workplace Giving campaigns should be built around your organizational culture and social impact initiatives. Employees become inspired by learning about the global water and sanitation crisis and feel empowered when they can have an impact by raising funds for Water For People.
The most successful campaigns are supported by leadership, driven by staff and have a specific fundraising goal and time period. Popular times of the year to launch campaigns are during World Water Day in March or National Drinking Water Week in May, because they are well established and recognized national events. The key is to pick a goal and timeframe that works best for your organization.
Giving Options
There are several options for organizing your Workplace Giving campaign for Water For People:
- Traditional Giving Campaign: Employees make donations through payroll deduction or make a one-time donation by check. This method works well when employees are located in many offices and share the same payroll department.
- On-line Giving Campaign: Employees visit Water For People’s web site and arrange to make monthly donations or a single donation via their credit card. This campaign works well for companies with many offices that may be located throughout the world, when payroll deductions would be more complicated to process.
- Special Events at the Workplace: Local fundraising events encourage employee participation because they create excitement and enthusiasm in support for Water For People. They are an excellent complement to any campaign.
- Matching Gifts: Some employers will match employee donations to Water For People. It all depends on individual company policy, so check with your employer to find out if your gift can add additional value to Water For People’s work.
