I am very humbled to have received Water For People Canada’s William M. Butler Award for Outstanding Canadian Service yesterday at the Kenneth J. Miller Founders’ Award Luncheon in the company of so many Kenneth J. Miller Founders’ Awardees. I congratulate them and at the same time sincerely thank them all for their tremendous efforts as volunteers in supporting Water For People’s program efforts. I consider myself fortunate to have received such recognition yesterday and even more fortunate to have met the late Ken Miller and to have the opportunity to continue to work with Bill Butler in supporting Water For People’s efforts in Canada. I consider Bill Butler to be a friend and a mentor and this award is a very special one for me.
My involvement with Water For People began in 2004 as a member of Water For People Canada’s Board of Directors representing the Canadian Water Environment Federation’s Member Associations, then serving as the Ontario Water Works Association’s Representative on the Board, along with a two-year term as President. I have recently completed my term as Water For People Canada’s Past President and continue to serve as an Ambassador for Water For People. I consider myself most fortunate to have traveled to Bolivia in 2008 to see firsthand the tremendous impact that Water For People has made in communities within the rural municipalities of Cuchumuela, Villa Rivero, Tiraque and San Pedro.
Water For People has had a profound impact on my life and my family is very proud of my accomplishments.
What do you think?
