Take Action this World Water Day
March 22, 2011

Happy World Water Day! We're thrilled that so many around the world are taking notice of water poverty today and want to share with you the many activities (mostly online) in which you can take part and spread awareness! Please share your favorites with others!
Watch Ned Breslin's presentation at the PopTech conference, posted today in honor of World Water Day! "Is water still running?" is perhaps the most important question when considering water initiatives worldwide, concludes Breslin. He’s tired of seeing broken hand pumps and taps litter Africa, Asia, and Latin America. These signs of failed projects underscore the critical need to overhaul water aid for real impact. What Else is Water For People Doing?
Yesterday in DC, Regional Manager-South America Kate Fogelberg and Chief Partnership Officer Susan Davis presented on Accountability and Transparency at the "Making Progress" Learning Forum hosted by CSIS and the WASH Advocacy Initiative in celebration of World Water Day. About the talk, Breslin says, "We have been part of a series of meetings over the past seven months that are designed to reinforce solid programmatic work around the world while addressing weaknesses we see on the ground in new ways."
Kate Harawa, country coordinator in Malawi, was asked to speak in commemoration of World Water Day with the National Water Congress in Malawi on the topic of "Water as a Business." Water as a Business is the concept of tapping into social entrepreneurs to help end water poverty in developing countries.
Have a wonderful World Water Day and thanks for taking action!
