Scaling up

Scaling up our impact

Scaling up is just another way that Water For People creates a bigger impact. Not only can our work be replicated from place to place or between organizations, but we can grow it incrementally as well. When we cover one area (a county, a municipality, a district, etc.), we start thinking about the next bigger area that we can reach. From village to township to county to region, each level is tackled sequentially in Water For People’s country programs—and that’s Scaling Up.

The names in each country may differ but the idea is the same. Succeed at one level. Then move up to the next higher level and succeed there. This model ensures that Water For People creates an environment in which success can flourish, an environment where the local organizations, government, communities, and other development organizations can take over.

It is Water For People’s goal to build local capacity, cut the cycle of dependency on foreign development dollars, and leave a program country for all the right reasons.
