About the Position
Water For People is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Grant Writer. The Senior Grant Writer supports successful solicitations and reports to corporations, foundations, individuals, and bilateral and multilateral agencies through development of powerful pitches, proposals, and reports, and thereby helps Water For People to achieve its mission.
Essential Job Functions and Duties
Conceptualizes, researches, writes, edits, reviews, and produces a range of fundraising communications in a timely, effective, and professional manner
Develops content to support programs which includes writing proposals and reports for organizational and program overviews, donor updates, and other materials
Leads collaboration and communication for effective, cross-departmental process for development of proposals and reports
Advises Relationship Managers on strategies to fit programmatic work to donor interests
Advises on and develops messaging for the Business Development team
Works across departments to identify funding targets, and gathers accurate and relevant information to build the best possible case for each funder
Serves as an informational resource to the Business Development team
Shapes and builds capacity within country program team for developing effective proposals and reporting on them, if requested
Manages work flow and assignments of grant writing duties for Grant Writer, considering the most strategic approach to assigning duties to ensure effective process development and delivery of exceptional proposals and reports that meet or exceed donor expectations, leading to maintained or increased future gifts
Builds alignment and consensus within the team around organizational goals
Demonstrates leadership in cross-functional collaboration across the organization
Sets individual contributor and team goals, and conducts performance reviews

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience is required
6 years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in fundraising is required
6 years of progressively responsible grants writing experience is required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent narrative-writing ability
Ability to research and synthesize complex sets of information
Familiarity with the key concerns of the water and sanitation development sector and a genuine appreciation for the approach of Water For People
Knowledge of the concerns and protocols of the range of funders
Highly accountable with the ability to effectively manage both the big picture and small details while executing on both
Oral and written Spanish proficiency is preferred
