\n\t\t\n\t\tIn many parts of the world,\u00a0people are still spending hours every\u00a0single\u00a0day walking\u00a0for\u00a0water.\u00a0That’s why we created the World Water Classic – a way for you to join us from anywhere to help change this reality.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRegister for the Classic\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t Join other supporters like you to run, walk, pedal, or get creative in support of reliable, nearby water access. Choose your own route and join from anywhere in the world, October 2-11, 2026.\u00a0<\/strong>When registering, you’ll have the option to create a team, join an existing one, or fundraise solo if you are inspired.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t Complete 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) on your own route, at your own pace.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRegister\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t Ride 60 kilometers (37 miles) wherever you are. Complete it solo, with a group, or in stages.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRegister\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t Join from anywhere by paddling, skating, swimming, or moving in a way that inspires you.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRegister\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t Why 6k?<\/strong><\/p>\n In many parts of Sub-Saharan Africa, women and girls walk an average of 6 kilometers each day<\/strong> to collect water for their families.<\/p>\n\t A community member walking for water in Mpwapwa, Tanzania<\/em><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t It starts when they are four, sometimes younger, joining the older girls and women who walk miles each day to bring clean water to their families. From there, every aspect of a young girl’s life – schooling, physical safety, health, economic opportunity, safe childbirth – is impacted by the lack of access to safe water and sanitation.Water For People created the World Water Classic to bring attention to the walks women and girls do each day to get water – and to invite people to help change this reality.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRegister for the Classic\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t We had 307 participants in 2025, and through their participation, fundraising, and donations, more than $28,000 was raised to end the walk for water.\u00a0Plus, through sponsorships and company matches, an additional $26,500 was contributed to Water For People, bringing the Classic’s total impact to $54,500! Thank you.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t The World Water Classic is a global run, walk, bike, or get creative challenge in support of Water For People. You choose your activity, choose your route, and participate from wherever you are.<\/p>\n By joining, you directly support lasting access to reliable, nearby water services – helping end the walk for water that millions of people face every day around the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n Cuando:\u00a0<\/strong>The 2026 World Water Classic takes place between October 2-11. The World Water Classic is a way for you and your family to take local action with a global impact. We have a youth rate available on RunSignUp<\/strong><\/a> when registering participants.\u00a0<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Fundraising is encouraged, but not required. When you register, you’ll have the option to create a personal fundraising page and invite friends, family, or coworkers to support your effort.<\/p>\n You can also set up or join a fundraising team, such as with your colleagues, to grow your collective impact.\u00a0<\/p>\n We’ll also be spotlighting the top fundraisers, both individuals and teams, on the RunSignUp<\/strong><\/a> site.
