Water For People Announces New Chief Programs Officer
DENVER, June 26, 2017 — Water For People, a global nonprofit working to provide access to improved water and sanitation services in nine developing countries, is pleased to announce Mark Duey as its new Chief Programs Officer.
"Mark has been instrumental in leading our Latin America program as the Regional Director and in his prior role as Director of Global Program Quality," said Eleanor Allen, CEO of Water For People. "Together, these roles give him excellent experience and insight to lead our Global Programs team to new heights."
Mark is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer and has worked with Water For People for nine years. He joined the organization in 2008 as the coordinator of school water, sanitation, and hygiene education programming throughout Central America. In his most recent role as Latin America Regional Director, he grew the Latin America program considerably, overseeing several districts reaching Everyone with reliable water services. Prior to working with Water For People, Mark was an engineering consultant with HDR in Nebraska and Florida.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead Water For People’s global programs as we continue to reach incredible milestones of universal and sustainable access to drinking water services," Duey said. "We will continue to strengthen our market-based sanitation approach and develop new partnerships with national governments who want to scale our Everyone Forever model to reach Sustainable Development Goal 6 – water and sanitation for all."
Mark holds his Master of Science in Economics, Finance, and Management from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, where he was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. Mark is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, having served in Honduras as a water and sanitation engineer. In his role as Chief Programs Officer, Mark will lead the planning, delivery, and quality of all of Water For People’s programmatic work in an effort to reach Everyone Forever with water and sanitation services.
Former Chief Programs Officer Nick Burn is now serving as Water For People’s Chief of Strategy and Scale.
