Charlotte 5K and Virtual 5K

The Charlotte Water for People 5K is back for Spring 2023! We have the best of both worlds this year again; an in-person 5K in Charlotte and a ‘virtual’ 5K allowing people to participate across the state of North Carolina, (or anywhere in the world!) at the location of their choosing.
Race Day is Saturday, April 29th! We are excited to welcome runners, walkers, and cha-cha-sliders alike to support our mission and enjoy a beautiful morning out on the trail. This event provides a great opportunity to connect with athletic and community minded people both in and out of the water and wastewater industry.
We look forward to creating an awesome experience for everyone involved.

Awards: 1st Place Overall (M&F), winner of each age group (M&F)
Age Groups (M&F): 13 and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
PACKET PICKUP: Friday, April 28th – Omega Sports, 4201 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209
- 5:00 to 7:00 pm – Packet Pickup Event! Come grab your race bib at our table inside Omega Sports. Extra-T-shirts will also be sold for $15/each.
RACE DAY: Saturday, April 29th – Park Road Park, 6220 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210
- 8:00 am – Day-of registration opens for those not yet registered. Packets (race bibs) can also be picked up if you missed Friday’s Packet Pick-Up Event.
- 8:30 am – Day-of registration closes.
- 9:00 am – Race starts!
- 9:30 am – Race awards for fastest male and female in each age bracket are announced.
- 10:00 am – Raffle for Door Prizes Donated by local businesses begins.
- PARKING: The map below show’s the race start/finish line and the nearest parking lots. Volunteers will be stationed at the entrances to the park directing traffic.
- BATHROOMS: there are bathrooms facilities near the start/finish line.
- DAY-OF REGISTRATION: will be located near the bathrooms.
- MEDIC: Volunteer firefighters will be on site to address minor medical issues should they occur during the race.
- FOOD & WATER: snacks and bottled water will be provided to race participants.
This is an out and back race – starting near the western softball fields parking lot in Park Road Park. Participants will run/walk south along the Little Sugar Creek Greenway trail to the halfway point, then turn around and finish at the original start line.
Join your fellow philanthropists, water lovers, and athletic and community minded neighbors (socially distanced of course), for a fun run and a good cause. The fastest male and female runners in each age bracket will receive a gift card to Omega Sports and the overall male and female winners will get an additional gift card. The biggest team and fastest team will compete for bragging rights like in years past, and will each receive a plaque to hang in their office. Following the race, all participants are invited to stick around for a chance to win a raffle prize donated from a local business!
The largest team to participate in the race will be awarded one year of hanging rights of the Water For People 5K Trophy. Create or join an existing group.
