A Note from the CEO
Access to safe drinking water and a decent toilet is still out of reach for billions of people. With the knowledge and resources we have today, this is unacceptable.
The reality of this crisis is not the same for everyone. In many communities, women and girls carry the greatest burden – walking for water, missing school, and facing safety risks. Around the world, they spend ~250 million hours each day collecting water.
Transformational change occurs when services are built to last and when the communities and local leadership are part of shaping them. This is Everyone Forever. We partner with communities and governments to reach every household, school, and health clinic with water and sanitation services, and we stay until we're sure that access will last.
Together, we're building solutions that will last for generations to come.
Mark Duey,
CEO, Water For People

The People and Places at the Intersection of Water
When water and sanitation services last, they change what’s possible for people – their health, education, livelihoods, and resilience to climate change.
Measuring Everyone Forever
Water For People and our local partners collect data to determine Everyone and Forever milestones.
Everyone measures sanitation and water services at the household, community, and public institution (school or health clinic) levels. Forever considers the sustainability of the services maintained by communities and districts. Each year, these milestones help guide our plans, priorities, and celebrations.
These are the recent milestones we are celebrating:
Everyone Milestone Public Institutions
means 95% of schools and clinics have reliable water and sanitation service
Arbieto, Bolivia
Chinda, Honduras
Cascas, Peru
Reque, Peru
Forever Milestone Sanitation
means sustainable sanitation service
Tiraque, Bolivia
Gisagara, Rwanda
Karongi, Rwanda
Forever Milestone Water

We know this work toward Everyone Forever takes time. It requires coordination, investment, and trust. But we also know it is possible. In multiple districts across multiple continents, water is safely and reliably flowing – fully managed by the local governments and communities.
From urban to rural contexts, each is different, but in every place, services continue and local institutions are responsible for keeping them running. As we exit districts, our role changes. In alignment with our strategic plan, we continue working with governments to strengthen policies, financing, and technical capacity so that more communities can be reached through stronger national systems.
