San Diego Walk For Water 2026
A choice of 6 km walks at either Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve near Escondido or Mission Bay.
Walk about 6 km at either of two venues to celebrate World Water Day. Locations are Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve near Escondido and starting at Mission Bay Ventura Cove Beach near the Bahia Resort. The theme for United Nations World Water Day (March 22) this year is "Where water flows, equality grows." The link is: UN World Water Day. According to the UN, this year, the emphasis is ‘Water and Gender’, focusing on safe water and sanitation as human rights and critical enablers of gender equality. The global water crisis affects everyone, but not equally. Where people lack the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation, inequalities flourish, with women and girls bearing the brunt. They typically walk 6 km per day for water. It is planned to be two groups at each location; first group will leave at 8:00 a.m., second group is planned to leave at 8:45 a.m., or people can walk independently.
North County Venue is at Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve accessible from the Olivenhain Water Treatment Plant at 19090 Via Ambiente southerly from the main park entrance.
Mission Bay Venue meeting location is the Ventura Cove Beach easterly of Bahia Resort at 1000 W. Mission Bay Dr., SD, 92109.
All registration fees go to Water For People via CA-NV AWWA Section.
