Water For People Collaborates with Engineering and Construction Firms for First Annual Leadership Council

24 Nov 2014

On Dec. 2 and 3, 2014, Water For People will host its first annual Leadership Council. The goal of the two-day workshop is to strategize around programmatic and operational challenges Water For People faces and invite feedback and advice from the Council’s members. The Water For People Leadership Council is comprised of representatives from its long-term partners: AECOM, ARCADIS, Bentley Systems, Brown & Caldwell, CDM Smith, and CH2M.

Millions of people around the world don’t have access to safe water and sanitation resources. Water For People’s goal is complete water coverage for every family, every school and every clinic. To accomplish this, Water For People brings together local entrepreneurs, civil society, governments and communities to establish creative, collaborative solutions that allow people to build and maintain their own water systems. Through the support of Water For People’s corporate partners, these efforts are transforming people’s lives by improving health and economic productivity to end the cycle of poverty, and at the same time, creating opportunities for investment in emerging markets.

The goal of the Water For People Leadership Council is to foster thought leadership between Water For People and the engineering and construction industries. Industry representatives will advise Water For People CEO Ned Breslin and Board Chair Patrick McCann on organizational and programmatic challenges.

“The Leadership Council presents a timely opportunity for Water For People to tap into some of its most supportive partners’ knowledge and experiences, while simultaneously creating an avenue for them to have a more hands-on role in guiding our movement forward as an organization,” said Board Chair McCann.

Water For People will strategize with Council members on how it can strengthen its value propositions to other firms in the engineering and construction industry, as well as identify opportunities for bolstering fundraising among member firms.

Charter members of the Water For People Leadership Council include:

  • AECOM: Paul DeKeyser, Senior Vice President and Leader, North American Water Practice
  • ARCADIS: Michael MacPhee, President, Water Division
  • Bentley Systems: Malcolm Walter, Chief Operating Officer
  • Brown & Caldwell, Rich D’Amato, Chief Operating Officer
  • CDM Smith: Darwin Nelson, President, North America Division
  • CH2M: Greg McIntyre, Global Market President, Water

Engineering and construction firms interested in joining the Council should contact Mary Beth Côté-Jenssen.

Why Don't We Fix Our Site for X Browser?

Essentially, Water For People is a non-profit and we would rather spend money on our causes instead of the very significant amount of money that it would cost us to design and maintain a website that works for legacy, unsupported browsers.
